Clarifying Expected Behaviours

The College has a School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Matrix. It outlines our behaviour expectations which are safe, respectful and responsible. The matrix clearly identifies how students can demonstrate these expectations in different setting around our College. Each behaviour is positively stated and describes what we would like to see our students doing rather than a list of ten school rules that explain what students shouldn’t do. Clearly describing the positive behaviours we do want to see helps to eliminate the “unwritten” school rules and ensures that our entire community understands what our behaviour expectations are.

To assist staff and students with remembering the matrix behaviours location specific posters have been displayed around the college for staff and students to refer to throughout the day. Students can find a copy of the matrix in their student diary. Staff can find a copy in the staff manual. An electronic copy is also available for download from the Compass PBS school documentation folder.
