Concept Mapping

This strategy will help students to:

  • Plan
  • Recap
  • Revise

Implementation:

  1. Students read a text, topic, or question.
  2. Underlining or taking note of the key concepts and ideas in the text, topic or question students begin to form the basis of their concept map.
  3. Students may choose a particular word or concept to begin mapping e.g. dystopia. They may begin by simply defining the word, and then as they work through the text, or unit of work they can add to the concept map by including the complexities of the concept and examples from texts and discussions to further solidify their understanding of the concept.
